EFFECTIVENESS OF THE HOME CELL IN DISCIPLESHIP AND CHURCH GROWTH

The cell is the basic unit of Life
The cell in latin means cella. (Small room)
Cells form tissues = organ = systems= totality of human body.

The Arcronym cell can be interpreted.
C – Connecting people relationally
E – Encouraging and equipping every believer to be a disciple of Christ
L – Learning to use our homes as ministry
L – Loosing people from the power of darkness
HISTORY MAKES US TO KNOW THAT “FAGBA AND OBAWOLE ZONAL HEAD QUARTER CHURCHES BOTH STARTED AS HOME CELL GROUP.

ADVANTAGES OF THE HOME CELL.
What the church may not be able to achieve easily the cell group can do it. Yourba proverb (owo omode ko to pepe t’agbalagba ko wo keregbe) the hand of the child cannot reach the shelf so also the elder’s hand cannot enter a calabash. This applies to the cell group and the church.
1.      Cell group has the capacity to produce a healthy church. Acts 5: 42.
2.      Fellowships are held at home :Muslims may attend ,Christian from other denomination may attend e.t.c
3.      Able to reach out to people living within the community.
4.      Provide natural setting for Evangelism
5.      Team work is easily achieved
6.       Prayer partners are easily identified
7.      Non believers are easily drawn in and find a place to be loved and cared for.
8.      Agent of both individual and community change when focused on living the gospel all through
9.      Sharing belongings and assets together
10.  Small groups are powerful ways to grow spiritually for ministry opportunities and also to develop spiritual gifts.

HOME CELL PROVIDING AVENUE FOR DISCIPISHIP
Discipleship cannot be handled just by ordinary men.
A discipler must above all be someone who has experienced spiritual regeneration , one who has been BORN AGAIN  Ezekiel 36: 26- 27 , 1Cor 2: 13 – 14
A discipler must possess the habit of spiritual transformation which qualifies him spiritually for a spiritual task.
A discipler must be disciplined , having foresight , full of wisdom , courageous , sincere , tactful , humorous , not easily angered , patient , friendly and possessing a good listening ability .
He / She must be a communicator of the truth, biblically sound, seeker of excellence.
Above all He / She must know that the single most important factor that has influence is the life and personality of the mentor.
Note “ we teach some, by what we say , more, by what we do and most, by who we are” foursquare Anthem (catch your shield oh ye living church ,Christ of Galilee ,Bore all our sickness , carried our sorrow ,set the prisoners free ,lift the fallen ,help the faint , dry the weeping eyes …………)
Example of disciplers
a.       Barnabas with Saul / Paul Act 4: 36- 37 , 9: 27 – 37 , 11: 22 – 30
b.      Barnabas with John Mark .to rebuild his confidence. Acts 15: 36- 44.
Years later Paul changes his opinion about him. 2 Tim 4: 11,
c.       Priscilla and Aquila with Apollos. Acts 18: 1-3, 24 -28.
d.      Paul with Titus ( Titus 1 : 4-5
e.       Paul with Timothy Acts 16: 1-5 , 2Tim 2:12
f.       Paul with Philemon.

Conclusion
Our cell growth is dependent on our drive and will in seeking and knowing God’s heart beat
Mobilizing for harvest is an assignment that requires participation and commitment of all. Every one of us must be involved. There are many crowns waiting for us when we get to the foursquare city.
Shalom
