INTRODUCTION:
We are concluding our study “Growing like Him in Purity” tonight. Having examined six of the deadly diseases – Pride, Anger, Envy, Covetousness, Impurity and Gluttony in the past four previous studies, we shall glance through slothfulness to complete the list and the positive aspect of God’s kind of HOLINESS without which no man shall see God. Heb. 12:14.

SLOTHFULNESS – Rom. 12:11
This is a common sin not only among the reprobates but also among the saints.
Definition – An habitual indolence, laziness or sluggishness. A habit of indifference and leaving till tomorrow what one is supposed to do now.

ITS PECULIARITIES
Slothfulness though not commonly regarded as a sin punishable in the law court, it carries death penalty – Matt. 25:26-30; Rom. 6:23.
Its victims are allured to various occultic and diabolical groups for self-supposed protection and satisfaction of their desire – Lev. 19:31; Deut. 18:10-12; Rev. 22:15.

KINDS OF SLOTHFULNESS
–National Slothfulness
-The Laishites and Ziddonians (Judges 18:27-29)
-The Athenians (Acts 17:21)
-The Nigerian Civil Servants (Prov. 13:4)
–Family Slothfulness
-Exhibited by glaring uncleanliness in the home and dirty environment – Deut. 23:13-14.
–Personal Slothfulness
-Individual surrender to laziness and sluggishness, Prov. 20:13; 6:6-9; 20:4.
–Spiritual Slothfulness
-Sluggishness in spiritual matters – Heb. 5:12
-In prayer – I Thess. 5:7
-In church attendance – Deut. 2:42-44
-In reading of the Word – Col. 3:16
-In purity – Heb. 12:14
-In witnessing – Acts 1:8
-In Christian service – Matt. 21:28; Luke 19:13 and
-In giving – II Cor. 9:7.

ITS EVIL EFFECTS
-It leads to loss of spiritual strength (Eph. 5:14)
-It populates hell (Rev. 21:15; Jer. 4:17)

CURE – Be Christian in your attitude to duty – Eccl. 9:10

  When I was young, I was riding in the car with my mom when suddenly it started raining heavily. I was listening to the radio and had the volume up pretty loud. My mom told me to turn the music down so she could see better. I replied: “Mom, you see with your eyes, not your ears.” However, when I grew older, I was able to understand what she meant. Foursquare Fast and Pray GENERAL OVERSEER’S FOREWORD   And he (Jesus) said unto them, This kingdom can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. Mark 9:29 KJV   Prayer and fasting are some of the foundations for exploits (success) in life. There are certainly great things that can only happen through prayer and fasting, hence the emphasis of the scripture in calling people to pray - Jeremiah 33:3; Matthew 7:7,8.   Many people wish for success and various kinds of breakthroughs in life but are not ready to pay the price for it. What we see in the physical - manifestation is often the outcome of what has been settled in the spiritual realm. Prayer and fasting play  a  key part in this respect.   As we round off this year 2021 and look expectantly into the new year 2022, God has given us  an  open invitation to approach and access His presence - in the place of prayer.   Glory be to God A
